 The June C. Baker Foundation to benefit “Kids with Cancer” was established in 2004. During the past several years Hendry and Okeechobee Counties have been added to the area served by the Pediatric Oncology Support Team (POST) housed near the Children’s Hospital located on the campus of St. Mary’s Medical Center in West Palm Beach.
We continue to provide financial support for prescription drugs, various co-pays and travel to out-of-area clinics and hospitals. The need for gasoline cards has increased greatly with the expansion of the service area. POST staff is developing a respite program to provide support beyond medical needs. A major aspect of this endeavor will be to address the problem of families that cannot afford to celebrate a child’s birthday or other special event by having a meal in a restaurant. POST will pre-pay for meals in restaurants popular with children. Other needs such as school supplies or clothing will be provided. Foundation board members agreed to fund the respite program that will enrich the lives of many children.

The June C. Baker Foundation to Benefit "Kids with Cancer" is a 501 (c) (3) Public charity, staffed by volunteers and governed by a Board of Directors who volunteer their services. Operating expenses of the Foundation are paid by family members to insure that 100% of donations and proceeds from fund-raising activities is disbursed to "Kids with Cancer" in Palm Beach, Martin and St. Lucie counties. Social workers who coordinate outpatient care for "Kids with Cancer" advise Foundation staff of needy children who qualify for financial assistance and funds are disbursed to pay for prescription drugs, travel expenses to out-of-area clinics and various co-payments. All funds are distributed in accord with Bylaws of The Foundation approved by the Internal Revenue Service.
